ABOUT SOMERLEY FIELDS
Rooted in Farming, Growing Something New
We’re Ashley and Myles – two brothers raised on the land, with muddy boots, early starts, and a deep love for the countryside in our bones. Farming runs through our family, and over the years we’ve built AMS Contracting into a business that supports farmers, landscapers, developers and councils across the UK.
But here, at Somerley Fields – nestled within the historic Hundredsteddle Farm near Earnley, just outside Chichester – we’re planting something a little different.
Hundredsteddle Farm isn't just a name; it's a place steeped in history. Dating back to medieval times, it served as the meeting point for the hundred court of the Bishop of Chichester, where local matters were deliberated. The term "Hundredsteddle" itself refers to the platform or floor on which these courts sat, highlighting its longstanding role in community governance.
Inspired by our love for the land and a desire to diversify, we’re transforming one of our paddocks into a sea of sunflowers. What started as a small seed of a plan has blossomed into something bigger: a welcoming, seasonal space where people can reconnect with nature, enjoy time with friends and family, and take a little beauty home with them.
2025 marks our very first Pick Your Own Sunflowers season – and we’re opening the gates to share it with you.
And when summer gives way to autumn, we’ll be welcoming you back for our first Pumpkin Weekends. Think crunchy leaves, homegrown pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, and simple seasonal fun that celebrates the harvest and countryside at its best.
We’ve created Somerley Fields with sustainability in mind – from championing British farming and low-impact land use, to working with local partners and making responsible choices where we can. It’s a joyful place with its roots in the soil, and its heart in the future.
This is still a working farm, with all the character and charm that comes with it. But it’s also a place to slow down, breathe in the country air, and experience something joyful. From flower picking to wellness sessions, food and drink to golden hour photoshoots, we’re creating more than just a day out – it’s a whole experience.
We care deeply about sustainability and doing things the right way – using what we have, treading lightly on the land, and supporting other small businesses wherever we can. Everything from your sunflower stems to your snack is chosen with intention and heart.
We’ve got pumpkins coming later in the year, new ideas always in the works, and we’re proud to say this is only the beginning.
Thanks for being part of our first chapter. We can’t wait to welcome you to the field.
